Franklin Foundation Sends Experts to China for Training

Due to the pandemic, the Franklin Foundation’s initiative to send experts to China for training special education teachers and parents was interrupted for a few years. This year, the program resumes. Special education expert Ms. Connie Sun from Southern California went to Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Nanjing at the end of June to deliver lectures on special education.

Ms. Connie Sun’s 20-day lecture tour will provide various topic-specific presentations to parents of special needs children, special education teachers, and the children themselves.

Ms. Sun’s first stop in China was Tianjin, where she engaged with parents and teachers at Children‘s Boat. The event was packed, with attendees cherishing this rare opportunity. Ms. Sun’s insights greatly inspired and assisted the parents, giving them hope. The teachers at Children’s Boat attentively listened to the entire lecture, each gaining valuable knowledge.

Since 2015, the Franklin Foundation has been sending special education experts to China to train special education teachers and parents, a program that continued unabated until the pandemic. This year marks the first after the pandemic, with Ms. Connie Sun visiting institutions such as Qingcong Spring in Shanghai, Children’s Boat in Tianjin, Hand in Hand in Xi’an, and Star of Sea in Nanjing. Her visits were warmly welcomed by the special education teachers and parents at these schools. Since 2015, Ms. Sun has trained over 300 teachers and parents.

Franklin Foundation President Jane He stated, “The foundation will continue to send more experts to China and other locations for training and academic exchanges in the future. This is our mission and an important step in changing the lives of special needs children.”
