[Los Angeles, May 10 (US News Agency)] Ahead of Mother’s Day 2025, the Franklin Foundation, with the support of First General Bank, the Chinese American Women’s Association, and College Doctor LLC, jointly held a beautiful event to celebrate mothers.
At the event, First General Bank donated $3,000 for scholarships and grants to children with special needs, and Pro A Motor donated $1,000 in grants. The Chinese American Women’s Association and Principal Chen’s College Planning also prepared flowers for the parents of each child with special needs, allowing them to spend a joyful, relaxing, and wonderful Mother’s Day surrounded by flowers.

According to Cindy Yang, a board member of the Franklin Foundation, the foundation has been awarding scholarships since 2017, with approximately 10 children receiving them annually. To date, more than 70 individuals have received scholarships from the foundation. These funds are used for children’s music, art, and physical education training, as well as for support for those entering university. Previously, these scholarships were awarded directly by the foundation.
This time, the funds were awarded by First General Bank to eight children, three of whom are non-Chinese or non-Asian, demonstrating the Franklin Foundation’s influence transcends racial and community boundaries. Additionally, two children who actively participated in the foundation’s activities received merit scholarships.

Aoi Nakayama, a board member of the foundation, also explained that California has corresponding policies for families with children with special needs. Currently, California has launched a self-determination program, which is a great help to many families with children with special needs. The children helped by the foundation are mainly from families facing difficulties outside of the self-determination program. This time, the foundation strictly followed California’s income standards, and all children receiving scholarships were from low- to middle-income families. The purpose of the foundation’s scholarships is not only to financially support families with children with special needs, but also to serve as an inspiration and encouragement, allowing children to grow up healthily with the care of the whole society.
